With stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills, Farfields Farm is spread out over one hundred acres, where they grow a variety of vegetables, raise beef cattle on pasture, and laying hens.
Foodwaze has had a chance to visit the farm to learn first-hand about their practices. They use regenerative farming methods to raise their cattle, which includes management intensive grazing and frequent rotation. This builds healthy soil and produces fresh and dense pasture for the cattle to feed. They are 100% grass-fed.
The chickens, and some ducks, are also part of their holistic system, as they are rotated on pastured behind the cattle, where they feed on flies, bugs, worms, and grass. They are supplemented with certified organic feed and their mobile hen house is an old school bus!
Farfields grows a wide variety of crops using sustainable practices such as crop rotation, cover cropping, and composting. They rely on several large fields as well as hoop houses and a green house.
The farm also has numerous beehives and also keeps a small herd of goats. Please click on the Places tab to find out where you can purchase their products.
